SUMMARY
The Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 173) lets parents who are outside Australia live in Australia for up to two years if they are the parents of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia. Once granted this visa parents can at anytime within the 2 years apply for the permanent Contributory Parent Visa (subclass 143)

VISA REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- The applicant is the parent of a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
- The applicant is sponsored by their child or child's spouse or de-facto partner
- The applicant meets the Balance of family test criteria
- An assurance of support has been accepted for the 143 subclass
- Meet both the health and character criteria.
