KALGOORLIE |GOLDFIELDS DAMA
The Goldfields DAMA is a five year labour agreement between Australian Immigration and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the Shires of Coolgardie, Leonora and Menzies.
A Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) is a formal agreement between the Australian Government and a regional, state or territory authority. In this case the the region of the Goldfields has a DAMA in effect.
It’s objective is to attract skilled migrants to work and live in Kalgoorlie-Boulder region, enabling Goldfields businesses to sponsor skilled overseas workers in certain sectors that are experiencing critical skill and labour shortages.
Sometimes known as the DAMA Visa Kalgoorlie it offers applicants the chance to apply for a Temporary Skill Shortage 482 Visa and the Employer Nomination Scheme 186 visa (Labour Agreement Streams).

LOCATION
Businesses can access the Goldfields DAMA if they are actively operating in the Goldfields region. Applicants can apply for positions directly with the approved businesses in the Goldfields region. |
VISA REQUIREMENTS
LABOUR AGREEMENT STREAM (TSS 482 or ENS 186)
EMPLOYER
Businesses can access the Goldfields DAMA if they are actively operating in the Goldfields region and meet the following criteria:
- financially viable and have been operating for at least 12 months
- have no history of not meeting its obligations to employees
- are looking to employ overseas workers to fill full-time positions with duties that align with one of the occupations on the Goldfields DAMA list
- can demonstrate they cannot fill the position locally with Australian citizens or permanent residents
- can provide terms and conditions of employment to overseas workers that are in accordance with those offered to Australian workers employed in the region.
EMPLOYEE
- The Goldfields DAMA is an employer-sponsored visa program and individual workers cannot apply for a visa independently.

- A TSS visa holder does not have an age limit, however workers aspiring to access the permanent residence pathway through the ENS must be aware that this has an age limit of 45 years old unless a higher age limit is stated in the Labour Agreement.
- The applicant has worked in the nominated occupation or a related field for at least 2 years; or Immigration considers that it is reasonable in the circumstances to disregard this. (TSS 482 Visa)
- The applicant has worked in the occupation to which the position relates or a related field for at least 3 years or Immigration considers that it is reasonable in the circumstances to disregard this. (ENS 186 Visa)
- The applicant has qualifications, experience and other attributes that are suitable for the position (ENS 186 Visa)
- The applicant has English language skills that are suitable to perform the nominated occupation. (the Labour Agreement will specify the english level)
- Meets the experience requirements for the nominated occupation as outlined in the DAMA.
- The applicant has adequate arrangements for health insurance during the period of the applicant’s intended stay in Australia. (TSS 482 Visa)
- DAMA Goldfields criteria states that certain occupations may require a positive skill assessment (eg Retail Managers)
