Short Term TSS 482 visa changes - March 2022
Well good news has arrived for those holding a Temporary Skills Shortage (482) in the short term stream.
Immigration announced on the 24th March 2022 a pathway to permanent residency for those holding a TSS 482 in the short term stream.
Popular occupations that are listed on the Short‑term Skilled Occupation List for the TSS 482 include cooks, restaurant managers, customer service managers, recruitment consultants, marketing specialists, primary school teachers, hairdressers, dental technicians and community workers.
However, as with everything Immigration related it is not as simple as first thought.
The catch is that you must have been in Australia for at least 12 months between 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2021. In addition, in most cases you need to have held this visa (TSS 482) for 3 years during the 4 year period before the (Permanent Nomination) application is made.
Access to permanent residency would come through the translational streams of the ENS 186 or the RSMS 187 visas at present.
All other employer and applicant requirements would also need to be met.
