Be careful your partners IELTS result has not expired when trying to prove functional English. The IELTS test should have been sat in the 12 months before the application is made. (Regulation 5.17 1(c) of the Migration Regulations 1994). Some applicants believe that the results remain valid for 3 years as this is the case for the majority of visas. However, this is a common mistake that can cause significant stress and not to mention extra money to pay out when you find out the test needs to be re-sat.
Therefore, if using IELTS to prove functional English you should ensure they have: An IELTS average band score of at least 4.5 based on the 4 test components of speaking, reading, writing and listening in a test conducted not more than 12 months before lodging the relevant application to migrate. Please note there are a number of other methods in which to evidence you possess 'Functional english'. If you require further clarification on this please contact Visa Makers.

I’d like to thank Andrew at Visa Makers for his excellent, professional and swift service on a worrying visa matter I had earlier today. After recently applying for a Graduate 485 visa I phoned Immigration to check the details around my right to stay in the country and was informed that because I have finished studying, my Student Visa would be cancelled and that I had less than 20 days to leave the country. Obviously this caused me extreme stress and consternation but I immediately called Visa Makers and after confirming my details Andrew said he would verify the relevant Immigration legislation and get back to me within a few hours. In less than an hour Andrew got back to me confirming that the information I had been provided with was incorrect and that my current visa is still valid. Andrew’s prompt response gave me the security and reassurance I needed and saved me a considerable amount of money and hassle. I’ll definitely be using Visa Makers when I apply for my PR and would recommend their services to anyone wanting a professional and knowledgeable migration agency. All 1 hour consultations are now half price ($75) until the end of August 2014. During the consultation we will assess your eligibility for all potential visa pathways. The consultations will take place in the suburb of Westminster 6061. (close to Balcatta and Nollamara). To book your place email mailto:[email protected] or call
on 0416 468 333. Today I thought I would publish an interesting graphic from the Department of Immigration.
It demonstrates the governments focus on skilled migration. The graph on the right shows the rapid growth in skilled migration since 1993. This is in contrast to the much slower growth associated with the Family streams. So it seems for the foreseeable future skilled migrants will have the priority over family visas. Thanks Andrew Welcome to the Visa Makers Blog presented by Andrew McAuley.
